Rubbermaid Saumai armor by Devilpig Rubbermaid Saumai armor by Devilpig
Bored. So I was scanning the DA site and ran across this guy's DA page [link] and it inspired me to post something I did for Halloween a couple of years ago. The suit was made out of Rubbermaid garbage cans.

Here's more pictures. [link]

Really awesome! The more and more I see armor made out of garbage cans the more I want to try it myself.

How much time did you have in the build of this?

About a month. Plus I was in between animation jobs, so that also helped with the time factor.

Shit's dope. You get serious ball-points for the Hello Kitty. Georges tells me you were just back in Atlanta not too long ago.

NIcely done! what did you use for the lacing of the arm and leg plates?

Samurai armor must be a cursed costume. a freind of mine built a suit and lost in a costume contest to a guy riding an ostrich costume.

I'm very impressed! I like the coloration you've achieved on the armor. Gotta love the Hello Kitty, too! :kitty:

I know some folks in SCA make armor from plastic 55 gallon drums or Kydex sheets. Still, I think this outdoes most of them.

Have you seen the guy in the Stormtrooper Samurai outfit at SDCC? That's pretty epic, too.

That is aswome! Have you thought about doing a write-up on it? And where did you get the templates for the cut outs? I would almost guess you pulled them out of your own head.

Some tabi and sandals would have really brought this together. The Empire boots kinda distract me.

Wasn't trying to make an exact replica. Just wanted to be creative in my own way. I hate trying to copy something. I'd rather go my own way being only influenced by the real thing.

Not arguing with you there. Your original designs have definitely worked for you so far. I guess I'm just not used to seeing the mix of modern and traditional samurai gear .
