I forgot to post this. Once again, like the other GL cover I did, my marching orders were as follows: "Just draw a Green Lantern fist w/ blood on it." Well, once again, far be it from me to turn down an easy gig. And I guess I nailed it because DC turned this image (sans blood) into a freaking HUGE banner at Comic-Con this year. Seriously, it was over 20 feet tall.
Pen and ink on paper. All the rest is Photoshop trickery.
NOTE: It's been pointed out to me how many times the Green Lantern fist motif has been used. Well, like I said earlier, DC asked for a raised fist w/ blood, and I gave them just that. To be honest, I didn't really know about the earlier versions. I was never a Green Lantern fan growing up. Anyways, it's bound to happen.
I really liked this cover when I saw it. Didn't know which issue it was for, but thought it rocked. Imagine my surprise when I opened up my comps and saw this staring back at me. Tis an honor to draw a book with a Dave Johnson cover!
its amazing how much can be conveyed with just the hand and ring. it feels so powerful and resilient against evil. but hey, i just favorited it because i like green lantern wish i could have been at comic con and seen such a beastly banner!
