I'm feeling a lydecker/Rockwell influence in your stuff. I get that from the flat areas of color on the penguin's face and other areas of color. But unlike other artists you really have intergrated it into your own style. Bravo sir!
Of course I could be totally of base and full of it too.
awesome work. im still so impressed with your digital approach to a traditional looking color application. right down to the colored pencil-type lines you make in your hand colored pieces. dave, im getting a "sean murphy" vibe from the rendering on batmans face. i know you like to "mix up the gumbo" (as you've told me at past conventions). i just find it neat how artists and their contemporaries rub off on each other. this, of course, just being my opinion and interpretation of the piece. it was most likely not an attempt in your excecution. i'll read this tomorrow when i sober up and be amazed at my grammar. anyway, i look forward to seeing you at the boston convention next month. any plans for a drink and draw while you're in town?
