Abe Sapien Abyssal Plain 1 by Devilpig Abe Sapien Abyssal Plain 1 by Devilpig
Here's that Abe Sapien 'The Abyssal Plain' No. 1 cover I talked about a while ago. I wanted to make sure it was cool to post before I pissed off the powers that be at DarkHorse Comics. It's a 2 issue story, so I'll be posting the second cover soon.

Re: the Steranko comment... I've gotta assume the commenter was making a connection because there are so few covers designs that actually utilize negative space in the composition. What a concept!

Nice Piece, I never processed it as a "yellow submarine" either. Was the drawing of Abe tweaked in photoshop to have that skew? If so, could you post the original drawing too?

The drawing was tweaked before I inked it on the original.

Awesome artwork! I love the composition and how Abe looks. The scales on Abe's skin are a really fine touch^^ Are you going to do the whole artwork in the comic or just the cover?

Good cover!
I am your fan.
When you are drawing a comic about Hellboy? You better Fegredo!

P. S. I have a small remark to datalyam on the cover.
On the Russian naval their caps at the ends of ribbons are shown not strip.
It pictured an anchor. I beg your pardon for the comment and my English.

I love the Poseidon Adventure riff in this cover. Absolutely fantastic.

How do you start with these pieces? Do you draw the separate elements and then squash and warp how you want them in photoshop or paint the whole thing straight on the board?

You're an inspiration as always.

Sometimes. I'm not opposed to stretching an image to suit the overall design.
