awesomely simple but it just grabs you and smacks you around with its coolness!

Effective BECAUSE it's so simple. Ornate is easy. Simple is freakin tough.

Love how the trickle of blood gives definition to the pistol. I have to look up this "100 Bullets" book sometime.

I don't want to overstep my bounds, but I truly think this is one of the most memorable and important covers of the past decade. Thanks for posting.

Well I do :)

Seriously though, whenever I have seen this cover (whether in its original format, or on a poster, or in an advertisement) I am immediately reminded of the breadth and intrigue of that entire series. Sure, brilliant covers were in no short supply on 100 Bullets but that single image surpasses any individual storyline and simultaneously reaffirms the context of each separate plot.

It also serves another great purpose (which I have seen firsthand multiple times) in drawing new readers in to the series itself. The simplicity (colour choice, composition, etc) accomplishes something much greater than the sum of its parts. To the indoctrinated it reinforces the established mythos and to the new reader it serves as a compelling seduction to "find out what the hell is going on."

Pardon me if I'm pumping up your ego a bit too much, but you should know that my comments aren't simply fanboy nonsense. I really think it's a noteworthy accomplishment and I'm also convinced that history will affirm my opinions.
